A sociologist and demographer, Margaret L. Usdansky is the founding director of Syracuse University’s Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS) and interim director of the University’s Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE). Usdansky is a Research Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Science in Falk College and Principal Investigator of Coaching to Learn. Embedded in Calculus 1, this National Science Foundation-funded intervention aims to help students become expert independent learners. The intervention tests models that support students in adopting learning strategies based in cognitive science. Usdansky and her colleagues in CLASS oversee academic integrity policies and case management in collaboration with the University’s schools and colleges. With colleagues in CTLE, Usdansky supports programming to promote evidence-based, inclusive teaching. All the author's views are their own.
