Pre-Conference Workshops
Start your adventure by attending the pre-conference sessions on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Morning Sessions:
Session 1 (9-11:30am): Fairness in the world of AI: Artificial Intelligence Policy Guidelines
Summary: In this workshop, participants will explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education, with a focus on fairness and ethical policy or guideline development. Participants will examine the challenges AI presents in maintaining academic integrity, discuss guidelines for equitable AI use, and develop strategies to implement fair AI policies that uphold institutional values. Through collaborative discussions, case studies, and best practices, attendees will leave with actionable insights to foster fairness and integrity in AI integration within academic settings.
Session 2 (9-11:30am): Implementing Restorative Justice Practices into your Academic Misconduct process
Summary: As a lot of attention is focused on student retention and student success, adjudication models have expanded to utilize a myriad of approaches to student accountability. This session will focus on Restorative Practices which seeks to collaborate WITH students to repair the harm caused by their academic misconduct. We will spend time discussing the history of restorative practices. Then we will share how to implement and incorporate restorative practices into your existing conduct models.
Afternoon Sessions:
Session 3 (1:30-4pm): Student-led Honor Councils - Leaders of Tomorrow
Summary: While many institutions have created a process for resolving cases of academic integrity that is conducted entirely through administration, others remain steadfast in a tradition of student involvement. Preparing students to be leaders of tomorrow, serving on an Honor Council or Honor Board creates a meaningful and often unmatched student experience. In this session, we invite students who serve on Honor Councils and the like as well as administrators who work with these students to consider how the experience can develop transferable skills for these students’ future professions.
Session 4 (1:30-4pm): Bringing ICAI Fundamental Values to Life on your Campus
Summary: The ICAI fundamental values help foster a culture of integrity on our campuses. But how exactly? This workshop will explore ways to incorporate these values into the very fabric of your institution. Participants will leave this session with practical actions to put into place upon return to their institution.
