Dr. Karina M. Viaud, Associate Director for Engaged Teaching Hub at UC San Diego Teaching and Learning Commons, brings 20 years of professional experience in higher education: student affairs, university advancement, and enrollment management. Karina has presented at several national and international conferences on topics of antiracist education/pedagogy, undocumented students, international students, students of same sex parents, first-generation graduate students of color. Karina earned a psychology degree from Bridgewater State University, a master’s degree in college counseling and student services from the University of San Diego, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from the joint program at UC San Diego and CSU San Marcos. Her dissertation explored the doctoral experience of first-generation students of color that revealed moments of belonging and not belonging in the program.
